What to Expect at Jamaica Carnival
Events take place in Kingston and Ocho Rios so we recommend splitting your trip between these two destinations so you can experience both destinations. Ocho Rios is also a popular holiday destination so you can get some well-deserved chill time when the parties are over. Expect a buzz of colours, feathers and amazing Jamaican costumes. The streets are lined with traditional Jamaica Dishes for you to try along with a band in every corner, playing anything from traditional Jamaican vibes, to Bob Marley inspired reggae, ska with even a little Jazz thrown in. Sailing Week is one of Antigua’s most popular events and it brings a vibrant hustle and bustle to Antigua with impressive boats racing around the island and plenty of parties – it’s no wonder it’s one of the best time of year to visit if you like to be part of the action. The next Antigua Sailing week will be from 26th April to 2nd May 2025 and it will be the 56th anniversary of this incredible event. There are over 100 yachts competing so you can watch races from one of the designated lookouts, dance the night away at reggae parties and join in fun activities during the daytime.

Antigua Sailing Week is made up of several events including races around the island, prize giving’s and parties like the Lay Day Beach Party and Reggae in the Park….

Lay Day Beach Party
This fun filled all day starts around 11am and has a full schedule of activities including tug of war, stand up paddle boarding and dinghy racing. Whether you take part, or prefer to watch from the sidelines with a rum punch, everyone has a good time. Enjoy the BBQ, have a swim and pace yourself as after dark the party really starts with top Antiguan DJ’s playing island style.
Reggae in the Park
Held in the evening in the UNESCO Heritage site, Nelson’s Dockyard, this party is one of the highlights of Sailing Week. With impressive line ups including past performers like Maxi Priest, DJ Private Ryan, Shaggy, Luciano and most recently Tarrus Riley, expect to dance till you drop!
There also opening parties and closing parties… so make sure you get some beach time on your Antigua holiday or you will need a holiday to recover!
